Kiawe has been said to have been used for all kids of infections including conjunctivits (pink-eye) and other eye inflammation, painful teeth and gums, sore throats, all the way down to athlete's foot and other fungal infections. It has been used as an antiseptic for open wounds, on sore lips, chapped skin, as a sunburn lotion, and as a treatment for venereal disease. Parts of the tree were used as a laxative and as an emetic, as well as for stomach/intestinal pain, ulcers, colitis, hemorrhoids, and even used to dissolve kidney stones.  It has been used topically to stop headaches. At one time it was used internally for respiratory problems. *   **
